Kerry jokes he wants to see Trump’s ‘girth certificate’

Former Secretary of State John Kerry joked that he wanted to see President Trump's "girth certificate," a reference to the president's weight, during a speech at the annual Alfalfa Club dinner in Washington, D.C.
"Despite the pressure he’s under, the White House physician says President Trump is in great shape— a trim 239 pounds. Personally, I just won’t believe him until he produces his long-form girth certificate," Kerry said on Saturday.
Kerry, 74, whose name has been floated for a potential 2020 presidential bid, was referring to the results of Trump's most recent physical examination. He was also referring to the so-called birther conspiracy that questioned former President Obama's birthplace, which Trump has promoted in the past.
Navy Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, the presidential physician, reported that Trump is in excellent shape, saying the president had mostly normal results on several tests of his cholesterol and heart health.
Jackson said, however, that he recommended Trump take part in a more rigorous diet and exercise regimen.
Trump, who weighs 239 pounds, is one pound away from being considered obese, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's body mass index calculator.
The president reportedly enjoys junk food from places such as McDonald's.
The comment also parodied Trump's past push to obtain Obama's birth certificate. The White House in 2011 released a copy of Obama's original long-form birth certificate from 1961. Trump in 2016 admitted he believed Obama was born in the U.S.
